Magento to Shopify migration, planned so nothing breaks.
Configurable products, customers, order history and store views moved to Shopify. Every URL redirected and your Magento store trading until the switch.
Moving off Magento without losing what it took years to build
Magento is powerful, but most DTC brands end up paying for that power in hosting, extensions, security patches and a developer on retainer just to keep the lights on. Shopify trades a little flexibility for a store your team can actually run, and a checkout that converts.
The hard part is translation. Configurable products, attribute sets, customer groups and multiple store views all work differently on Shopify, and Magento's URL rewrites won't exist after launch. We map each one before anything moves.
What's included in a Magento migration
Catalogue translation
Configurable, simple and bundle products mapped to Shopify products, variants and metafields, with attribute sets carried into structured data.
Customers and groups
Accounts, addresses and order history imported, with customer groups carried over as tags or B2B pricing.
Store views to Shopify Markets
Currencies, languages and domains from Magento store views rebuilt in Shopify Markets.
URL rewrites and redirects
Every product, category and CMS page URL, including .html paths, mapped to a 301 redirect.
Saved cards and subscriptions
Payment tokens and recurring orders moved so repeat customers keep billing.
Extensions replaced
Each Magento extension matched to a Shopify app or native feature, or retired if you don't need it.
Shopify theme build
A fast theme built for conversion, so the new store performs better than the one it replaces.
How a Magento to Shopify migration runs
- Step 1
Scope
Catalogue, extensions, store views, integrations and URLs audited, with every gap flagged before we quote.
- Step 2
Map
Products, attributes, customer groups and URLs mapped to their Shopify equivalents.
- Step 3
Build and rehearse
Staging store built, test imports run and redirects checked while Magento keeps trading.
- Step 4
Cut over
Domain switched in one planned launch, with orders and rankings monitored afterwards.
Who it's for
A good fit
- Brands on Magento 2 or Adobe Commerce
- Teams paying more to maintain the platform than to grow
- Stores selling across multiple currencies or regions
Not a fit
- Complex B2B setups that need custom ERP builds
- Stores with nothing to migrate
Common questions
Is Shopify cheaper to run than Magento?
Usually, yes. You stop paying for hosting, security patching and most of the developer time Magento needs. Shopify has app and plan costs, but for most DTC brands the total cost of running the store comes down.
Can Shopify handle a large Magento catalogue?
Yes. Configurable products become products with variants, and extra attributes move into metafields. Very large variant counts need planning up front, which is part of scoping.
Will I lose SEO rankings moving from Magento to Shopify?
Not if redirects are done properly. Every old URL, including .html product and category paths, gets a 301 redirect to its new home, and we monitor rankings through launch.
Can multiple Magento store views move to Shopify?
Yes. Shopify Markets handles different currencies, languages and domains from one store, which replaces most store view setups.
Do I need Shopify Plus after Magento?
Usually not until you're past £1m a year in revenue. We'll tell you honestly if Plus is worth it for your setup.
